Care Instructions for B Free Garments
B Free Intimate Apparel produces high quality garments that are designed in Australia and manufactured to strict quality standards.
Over time with wear and a little too much love, pilling may occur on the surface of your B Free garments. Pilling is a not a sign of poor quality but is a natural occurrence due to the friction of synthetic or natural fibres rubbing during wear or in the wash. Due to the delicate nature of our super soft fabrics, if pilling occurs, please gently remove these immediately either by hand. pilling comb or fabric shaver. Please also always refer to the care label for further instructions.
For a more comprehensive guide, below are the proper care instructions for each garment category. Follow these closely to ensure that you get the most out of your B Free garments.
Note that with the exception of the adhesive items, we generally recommend washing your garments before the first use. Note that removing the tags and washing the item will void your return so please ensure that you are happy with the style and size of the garment before you remove the tags and wash them. You are welcome to try on shape wear and underwear over clean underwear to check for size and fit first. Read our returns policy here.
Wire Free Bras
Step 1. For all wirefree bras it is essential to remove any detachable components first. If the bras has removable straps (like the padded bandeau) separate those. If the bras have removable padded inserts, make sure to pull them out. Any swing tags should be removed prior to washing.
Step 2. Fabric straps and padded cups should be hand washed separately in warm water with mild liquid soap and rinse thoroughly. You can use baby shampoo, liquid hand soap or a mild liquid detergent for this. Note if your padded cups have any creases or dents in them, you can leave them to soak in hot water for up to half an hour to release the creases. Air dry completely in part shade.
Step 3. To wash the main bra, place the bra in a mesh delicates bag. If your bra has a back closure we recommend fastening the hooks of the closure to prevent the hooks snagging on the fabric. Machine wash the bra at 30 degrees Celsius with like colours on a short wash cycle and a delicates setting.
Step 4. Line dry in part shade as direct sunlight may causing yellowing of white colours or fading of dark colours. Do not put the bras in the dryer as this will shorten their life span and may cause the bras to stretch out.
Step 5. Once all components are completely dry, you can add on removable straps if desired and place the padded cups back inside. Ensure that there is not too much pressure on cups when stored to avoid the cups flattening out or creasing. If the cups do lose their shape or develop creases you can soak them in hot water for half an hour for them to regain their original shape.
Regular Shapewear & Underwear
Step 1. Assess whether the shape wear or underwear is considered to be delicate. Lightweight tops and slips with a fine gauge knit, ultra light shape wear and any garments with lace trim should be considered delicates. Heavier weight items including our shapers with detachable straps and a double layer tummy control panel can be cared for using the following instructions.
Step 2. Remove any detachable components such as removable straps. If needed, removable straps can be hand washed separately using warm water and mild liquid soap and air dried.
Step 3. Shapewear can be washed on a regular machine wash setting up to 40 degrees Celsius with like colours.
Step 4. Line dry in shade.
Delicates & Hosiery
Step 1. Remove any detachable straps, pads or other components and hand wash separately. Place garment in mesh delicates bag and machine wash on short delicates cycle up to 30 degrees Celsius.
Step 2. Line dry in shade.
How to Keep Your B Free Bras, Knickers and Delicates Smelling Fresh:
Fresh smelling lingerie is a great way to start the day, here are easy and simple tips you can do to keep your undergarments smelling nice and clean.
Option 1: Vinegar – This household staple helps to kill odour-causing bacteria. You can either soak your garments in lukewarm water with 1 tablespoon of vinegar then proceed to wash normally. Or add vinegar (where you would usually add fabric softener) in your washing machine on a rinse cycle.
Option 2: Essential Oils – Take your favourite essentials and douse this on cotton balls. Afterwards place this in a mesh bag in your lingerie drawer to keep your garments smelling fresh.
Option 3: Fabric Softener – Using a fabric softener is very common in most households as it also adds a longer lasting scent than just using a detergent. Make sure to not use too much as this can cause build up and lead to the development of a wet mildew smell.
Adhesive Items - Stick On Bras, Pads, Thongs
For all adhesive items it is important to wash them immediately after use. Body oils and sweat can be washed off the adhesive area to increase the stickiness of the product, however, once dust and hair get embedded in the adhesive this cannot be removed.
Step 1. Hand wash separately with mild detergent such as liquid hand soap or baby shampoo. You can wash the adhesive area throughly to remove oils and sweat. Ensure not to use a harsh washing detergent as this may damage the adhesive.
Step 2. Air dry completely indoors in an area free of dust.
Step 3. Once the adhesive is completely dry, protect the adhesive with glad wrap or its original plastic covering to store.
Period Pads
Step 1. If you are out and about and want to change over your pad, you can remove the pad and fold it lengthways and then wrap the wings around and fasten shut with the snap closure. Ensure the waterproof fabric is on the outside and the absorbent layer is wrapped away on the inside.
Step 2. As soon as you are home, we recommend rinsing the pad with cold water.
Step 3. Warm or cold machine wash the pads on a delicates cycle.
Step 4. Line dry
